Los Angeles Ice Cream Tour

Updated: Mar 2, 2021

Los Angeles has so much to offer! When you're visiting it can seem overwhelming to find the best spots to visit, so I've created an ice cream tour to make it more simple. From small batch handmade ice cream, to asian specialties, and even bread pudding, there is so much to discover!

Salt & Straw

What started as a small food cart in Portland, Oregon soon became a Los Angeles staple for handcrafted ice cream. They are known for their unique flavors and delicious creamy consistency. My personal favorites are the honey lavender, chocolate chip cookie dough, and the chocolate gooey brownie. They have many locations throughout Los Angeles, so it’s an ice cream shop you can’t miss!

Milk Bar

Milk bar is an ice cream shop that I happened to stumble upon a few years ago in New York City, and since then has become one of my favorites. They’re most well known for their cereal milk ice cream, topped with cereal. They also have a wide variety of cookies, pies, cakes, and truffles, but personally, I am there for the ice cream. They have locations throughout the country, but only one in California so if you are anywhere near Melrose Avenue, make sure you stop by.

Sweet Rose Creamery

Sweet Rose Creamery is a small neighborhood ice cream shop with only two locations in Los Angeles: Brentwood country mart, and Santa Monica Main street. They make all of their ice cream in small batches from scratch, and that is what makes this ice cream shop so wonderful. They have many different rotating flavors, but I have never tried one I did not like. Their mint chip, which seems to stay on their menu is made with real mint, and is unlike any other mint chip ice cream I’ve ever tasted.

Somi Somi

Somi Somi is an ice cream store that serves a special Korean dessert known as “Ah-Boong”, a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with your choice of filling and topped with soft serve.Their flavors are always changing, so if you go once a week, you will likely always get a different flavor. Their waffle cone is not your average waffle cone, it's soft, gooey, and utterly delicious; like nothing you’ve ever tried. They have locations throughout the city and different flavors at each one.

B Sweet Dessert Bar

B Sweet is my ice cream honorable mentions because it is technically not an ice cream shop. They specialize in bread pudding, however they have ice cream that goes on top of the bread putting that makes it 100x more delicious. Their bread pudding flavors are incredible, my favorite is the banana chocolate. They have two locations, one in West LA, and the second in Downtown, LA. They do ship nationwide, so if you are from out of town and fall in love, don’t worry because it will ship directly to your door.

HONEYMEE

Honeymee is an ice cream shop that specializes in ice cream made with fresh California milk, and locally sourced honey. They basically put honey over soft serve ice cream, and it is truly a heavenly creation. My favorite is their classic vanilla soft serve drizzled in honey called the “sweetie”. They have locations throughout Los Angeles so it is an ice cream shop you can’t miss.
